In the humid conditions of the past month or two, they have been multiplying at an alarming rate -- and so have the problems they cause. Flies are, of course, not just a nuisance to poultry producers and their neighbours, they also spread disease. If you want to keep salmonella in particular at bay (not to mention the Environmental Health Inspector) you need to take firm and effective measures to tackle the problem.
The trick is to break the fly life-cycle at as many points as possible, so you need a rapid knock-down spray, a larvicide to deal with maggots, and a residual insecticide to deal with newcomers before they can lay more eggs. Naturally, you also need to pay particular attention to routine cleanliness and hygiene in and around the houses.
